Students from St. Lawrence school have been exploring a variety of pathways this year. They have learned about what kind of learner they are, discovered a variety of careers that interest them, and have connected how their learning skills are life skills that will prepare them for future job options. This knowledge was a great foundation for advancing awareness of skilled trades through an experiential learning opportunity to the Toronto Congress Centre. In collaboration with OYAP coordinator Pat Piro, the students had the chance to explore a wide variety of careers in the trades, from everything to hair styling and esthetics to pipe fitting and welding. The interactive stations allowed students to test out a job and see if it was of interest to them, while gaining knowledge of various college programs and apprenticeships. A great day was had by all!
