On Friday May 31st, 2019, Mrs. Leo and Miss Smith’s classes ventured to Camp Marydale to learn about the conservation of energy. Grade 5 students enjoyed time at the outdoor education facility, which connected them to the natural world and amazing wilderness. Students felt a sense of wonder when they hiked through learning about a variety of trees and species. Furthermore, students participated in a scavenger hunt that outlined different energy sources and ways to conserve energy. Finally, one of the most exciting parts of the day was when students learned about and participated in archery! They learned all about potential and kinetic energy and how we use these types of energy everyday! Outdoor education at Camp Marydale gave these St. Lawrence students an opportunity to challenge themselves beyond their day to day experience – and they had a blast!
